FLORA + FAUNA - PAINTINGS + DRAWINGS
As a child, I adored spending summer afternoons in my family’s vegetable garden, scuttling around in bare feet. Those enchanting moments were the beginning of my fascination with growing structures, and the spaces they inhabit.
In close observance of any growing, living thing, one becomes intensely aware of its complete and utter foreign essence, despite being, for lack of a better word, “real.” Flowers are especially strange creatures. Caught in their rapture, we stare into supernatural, miniature environments-- wild and awe-striking landscapes of hue, character, and incredible design.
Gardens are mystical areas, teeming with surprises. They are mazes of colors and shapes, filled with nooks and crannies of vibrating, raw existence. Gardens are like alien worlds, but appear on our own terrain. Gardens are like never-never land, but better because everything dies-- and is reborn. Gardens have more wisdom, more faith.
